Black History Month

Grades K - 7

This month, we will be learning the foundations of our modern music as traced back to the West African Coast. The heroes of modern music will be studied including Florence Price, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Sir Duke, Charlie Parker and more.

Grades Three and Four will discover the similarities and differences between the West African Tribal culture and the Native American culture.

Grades Five and Six will discover how the slave trade brought great music to the Americas and influenced our modern music.

Grades seven will find that African Percussion is the basis for the beats we hear, today, on the radio.

Grades 8

Believe it or not, it is time to select and begin to learn the graduation song. Our eighth graders will use great singing practices to make their song come to life.
