Class of 1972

Barbara (Mocharnuk) Croonquist is a mother of twin boys, a 1972 graduate of Our Lady of the Assumption School, 1976 graduate of St. Lucy’s Priory High School and 1981 graduate of U.C. Davis with a B.S. degree in Range and Wildlands Science. She was employed by the U.S. Forest Service for over 30 years on the Angeles National Forest, most notably as an interpretive specialist responsible for visitor information, education and the establishment of the Mt. Baldy Visitor Center in Mt. Baldy Village and the America’s Great Outdoors exhibit area at the Los Angeles County Fair. Named “Ranger of the Year” by the National Forest Recreation Association in 2007, Barbara’s passion is working with urban populations, especially inner city youth to instill a love of nature and the outdoors.  After transferring to the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management in 2010, she continued her work with diverse urban populations until her retirement in March 2017 and is now looking forward to new opportunities for community volunteerism and travel.
