Seventh Grade Stewardship Project
"
Tutoring"
7th grade will organize a tutoring program to serve OLA students K-6. This service will provide one-to-one homework help and academic support to OLA students K-6.
Purpose
- To allow 7th grade students the opportunity to provide a direct service to children that are part of their own community
- To allow 7th grade students the experience of making a positive difference in someone else’s life
- To help 7th grade students realize they already have gifts they can readily offer to others
- To begin or continue the good habit of sharing one’s personal gifts with others
Plan of Action
- Students survey what academic support services are desired/needed by families at OLA School site
- Students use the “support services desired/needed” surveys to determine how to structure an in-house “tutoring” program
- Students set up the tutoring program guided by 7th grade teachers
- Interested families sign up for the tutoring program as structured
- Students provide one-on-one homework help and academic support services to OLA students K-6 either directly (face-to-face) on-site or create lessons/materials/manipulatives for face-to-face tutors to use during tutoring sessions
